Postcards

Lately our letter box has been swamped with postcards ! all addressed to my daughter. Upon investigation, I found out that these avalanche of images and creative designs came about via an exchange scheme between postcard collectors utilizing the internet and the postal services of the world. So, for the past few months or so it has been raining postcards in our apartment and it keeps on raining postcards ! And I thoroughly enjoyed looking and appreciating these cards that flew in from all corners of the globe. Its just like collecting stamps which I did some 45 years ago, where a significant proportion of my pocket money went to buying albums and stamps of various shapes and sizes. Also later, I began collecting postcards myself during my infrequent visits to many foreign and local places to remind me of the places and place names that I had visited. It was especially so since I did not have the luxury of acquiring the camera. On that note, I really do not know what actually happened to those collections of mine. But one thing for sure, those simple activities had given me such joy and happiness. Most of all, it had given me a better understanding of the world we live in.
