Hong Kong Break

We went to Hong Kong after debating for some time whether to go or not to go ! and so we did, arriving mid - afternoon right smack on opening night of the Beijing Olympics 2008. We thought that things would be difficult with all the hype of this major event, but fortunately life is pretty usual in Hong Kong although the equestrian event is to take place about 40 minutes from where we were staying in the Kowloon District. On TV that night we saw the glittering display of the opening ceremony....hard for London to emulate, for sure in 2012. So wassup in HK ? the usual stuff, the kids went to Disney ( small in comparison to the one in Japan ), Ocean Park ( it rained the whole time , so we all went back early and rest instead. Other usual stuff for the tourists include trips to Aberdeen Fishing Village, and of course a visit to the famous waterfront and a night cruise along Victoria Harbour to catch the lights display.....nothing much happened, abit of a disappointment here. We gave up shopping. Food is expensive too, a half liter of drinking water can cost 4 HK dollars and more ! It is understandable since most foodstuff are imported anyway. So, what was most memorable in Hong Kong for us ? Aha...its the Shadowman Cyber Cafe where we had our breakfasts, lunches and dinners...the only clean, can be trusted Muslim restaurant with its many dishes. And it was excellent...the only highlight of our stay in Hong Kong.
