I am always attracted to the hills and the railways although the latter is a subject for another blog. No doubt about it. My latest visit to the Cameron Highlands started around 8pm on 5th March . Although we started around 6pm from the City, it was only at 8pm we arrived at the Northbound Toll Plaza. Driving almost non-stop ( minus a 10 minutes break at Tapah Rest Area ), we drove to Simpang Pulai Exit in order to escape the much more torturous route via Tapah. We arrived Brinchang around a quarter past eleven. By the time we checked in to our apartment in Brinchang, it was close to midnight. The family were in bed by 1 am. Brinchang has somewhat grown in size, with new buildings and hotels etc. and Brinchang is busy with traffic and tour buses !.On previous visits we stayed at Tanah Rata. As usual we visited all the familiar places like the tea plantations, the vegetable farms and we of course did not forget the strawberries ( I have to insert this because my better half insisted on it since she knew I hated strawberries ! ) We visited a new place ( kind of museum called the Time Tunnel - founded about 4 years ago by a Mr See ). This museum housed all the household items of which I for one were familiar with.... bicycles, calendars, pots and pans, furnitures, advertisements of bygone brands and of course it also contain write-ups of the history of Cameron Highlands ! A must see attraction for all Malaysians, at least for people in their fifties to really associate themselves with all those memorabilia items on display. As this was our fourth or fifth visit, we more or less knew where the rest of the attractions were and was not surprised at the developments taking place in the Camerons. The air is still cool at night and comfortable but can be hot in the day......sadly, I missed the morning mist or are there any mists at all nowadays ? Mists aside, we brought home good memories and loads of vegetables and the yakky strawberries after a 2- night weekend outing!
