I was scheduled to present a paper actually in a town called Eger, ( they say this place is a famous wine country in Europe ! ) in Hungary first week of November 2006 and en route I made a short stop in Budapest. Being me, as usual I was not prepared for the stop in Budapest and also had not bothered to look up for information on Hungary. My, my,.. what I saw was spectacular. And my geography was so bad that I could not recollect the river in the picture is actually the Danube. It is not blue either ! Budapest is a city full of history and beautiful buildings. At the time I visited the city was pretty quiet since it was a Sunday. The government building is something special ( please click travel photos on the side bar ) , of course and I could only see it from afar like 300 meters away since the security force have put up a kind of temporary guard rails around the square of the building. Verdict : must visit again
