Kuching Waterfront

Quite recently in early September, 2007 I visited Sarawak and its capital city , Kuching which is about one and a half hour flight time from Kuala Lumpur on the big island of Borneo. Sarawak is the largest state in the Federation of Malaysia. Talking about waterfront, Kuching has one, but with a difference. Its almost a kilometer long and unlike Kota Kinabalu where its waterfront faces the sea; Kuching waterfront is situated along the Sarawak River*. In today's language, my daughter would say....it is a "happening" place ! The whole place has been transformed into a beautiful, pleasant and clean esplanade. Hotels, eateries, shops, stalls selling various "touristy things" ( local handicrafts included ) dotted along the waterfront. One can opt for a river cruise and have dinner on board the ferry. To learn more, this is a good site to visit.
